My very favorite Founding Father is George Washington. The military strategies of the Revolutionary War are especially interesting to me. I am eagerly anticipating finding the time to read George Washington's War.
He was also notably apathetic on the subject of religion. Here's a quotation from my homeboy George:
"The United States of America should have a foundation free from the influence of clergy."
Would that were true today.
Plus he took the most difficult job of the whole war (that is, the job of actually fighting and winning the war) and accomplished it. Granted, the Brits did their part what with their slackitude (new word!) and complacency. But GW gets snaps for seizing opportunity where he could. (See the Battle of Trenton.)
So, Happy 275th!
