14th Objectivist Round Up!

Welcome to the October 18, 2007 edition of the Objectivist Round Up. We have a small edition today, but we here at the ORU always strive for quality over quantity and as usual we have not failed to deliver some great blog posts this week. Enjoy!

Darren Cauthon presents Apple: Damned if you do? posted at Darren Cauthon, which is a look at some of the troubles Apple faces over the release of the iPhone and its strategic partnership with AT&T. I'm with Darren in hoping for a quick, pro-Apple resolution to these anti-trust lawsuits.

Flibbert presents People Will Marry Ducks! posted at Flibbertigibbet, saying, "A computer scientist who studies artificial intelligence recently predicted that in 50 years people would marry robots. I question this prediction not because I know anything about the progress of Artificial Intelligence but on the grounds that robots do not have rights-- just like ducks. What ensues is a brief discussion of the nature of rights, the history of marriage rights, the struggle for gay rights, and some comments on -- you guessed it -- ducks." Ducks--can you imagine Thanksgiving at the in-laws though?

Monica at Spark a Synapse posts New Commenter Proving my Point. She writes, "A commenter on my blog asked me to cite primary sources as the evidence for religion being the basis for political goals of Republicans. The funny thing is, this commenter provides the evidence well enough on his own blog."

LATE BREAKING CARNIVAL UPDATE: Here's a post from Myrhaf! It's Politically Correct Racism, so don't delay, head over to Myrhaf now!

That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of objectivist round up using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.
