Quote of the Moment

This quotation from Maria Montessori hits on one of my personal parenting principles, Err on the Side of Freedom:

“Discipline must come through liberty. . . . We do not consider an individual disciplined only when he has been rendered as artificially silent as a mute and as immovable as a paralytic. He is an individual annihilated, not disciplined.”

I got the quotation from this website, but it doesn't provide the original citation that I can see. I hate that. Anyone know where/when she said this?
